The curriculum is organized into Four courses:
Course One: Mugwort and Moxa Floss

Learn how to make your own moxa floss at home! In addition to making your own floss, a discussion of how to judge the quality of your floss as well as those on the market is included as well as why this makes a difference clinically.
Course Two: The Versatility of Indirect Moxibustion
3 CEUs/PDAs
In school, we hear about moxibustion on ginger, garlic, salt, or Fu Zi, but are you clear on the different methods and uses of each? Besides these commonly used materials, we can also make herbal "cakes" for moxibustion. Each cake treats something different, depending on which herbs and pounts are selected. In addition, we can use orange peel, peach leaves, paper soaked in milk, cloth soaked in salt water, and even eggs as isolating substances for indirect moxibustion.
Course Three: Nourishing Life with Direct Moxibustion

Nourishing Life is the Chinese medical specialty of helping the body to age without unnecessary deterioration. It has been practiced for more than 2,000 years and was emphasized in the Huang Di Nei Jing. Moxibustion has been one of the favored modalities for nourishing life since the Tang dynasty. In this section of the class, we will discuss the history, theory, and philosophy of nourishing life, learn two specific methods using direct moxibustion, and practice using direct moxibustion to nourish life.
Course Four: More Than You Ever Knew About Moxa Sticks
3 CEUs/PDAs
Pressing moxibustion was the original method of using the moxa stick. It is a much more efficient method of delivering focused head and moxa qi than suspended moxibustion. Because it is more efficient, it is quicker and less smoke is released into the air. Since medicated cloths are sometimes used with pressing moxibustion, instructions to make your own cloths are included with the class.
