What is a Distance Learning course like?
Distance Learning courses come in two formats: 1) courses on CD with notebooks and 2) online courses. Courses on CD with notebooks and the online courses are recordings of Blue Poppy’s live seminars. They are taught by Western practitioners of acupuncture and Chinese medicine who are leaders in their field, polished English-language public speakers and professional teachers. The notebooks contain the lecture visuals that were actually used in the live seminar and therefore coordinate with the CD recording. When taking the course online the lecture visuals are on the screen and the audio is synchronized with each visual so that the experience is similar to the live class.
What do I get with a Distance Learning course?
You will receive a professionally prepared notebook of information with the instructor’s lecture visuals, supplementary reading material, and for some courses, written homework and case studies. You also will receive a professionally taped recording of the live seminar on CD.
Many of the shorter courses (3 hours or less) are available to be taken online. These require Flash Player to view, which can be downloaded for free from our site. The audio portion of the class has been synchronized with the lecture visuals so that the online experience simulates the original live presentation as much as possible. Many of our online classes have a preview button to give you an opportunity to see what the course covers and how the material is taught.
How long does it take to complete a Distance Learning course?
The courses are easy to follow and self-paced. The number of CEUs is roughly the number of hours it takes to complete the course. Of course, because of the self-paced nature of our Distance Learning courses, the actual time for completion may vary from one individual to the next. Your registration in each course is good for 4 years from your date of purchase.
Once you have completed the course work, there is a short quiz that can be taken online. A passing grade of 70% or greater is required to earn your CEUs/PDAs and receive your certificate of completion.
How do I take the quiz to earn the CEUs/PDAs?
To take a quiz online go to www.bluepoppy.com. In the lower left corner of the home page is the Practitioner and Student login area. If you are a registered user on our site sign in here using your email address and personal password.
Once you have logged in, in the same lower left corner you will now see "Welcome (followed by your email address)." Below this is a link called My Account. Click on that and your personal My Account page will open. Below your personal information is a button that says Click Here to Take Your Classes or Quizzes. Click on that button and you will be taken to a list of Classes and Quizzes to which you have access. Click on the name of the Quiz to start taking the Quiz.
Follow the instructions on the screen. Set aside about 30 minutes when you will not be interrupted because once you start a quiz you cannot stop it and start it again
What happens if I do not pass the quiz?
If you do not pass the quiz the first time, you may retake the quiz. You must call us during regular business hours (Mon-Fri 9-5 MTN Time Zone) to have the quiz reset for you. There is a small fee to retake a quiz. It is our recommendation that you take some time to review the materials before you call us to retake the quiz. It will be the same quiz each time so we do not provide you with the questions that were missed until you achieve a passing score of 70% or greater.
How long does it take to receive my certificate of completion?
When you take your quiz on-line and earn a score of 70% or higher, your certificate is available to you immediately on your My Account page.
Does Blue Poppy send my paper work to the NCCAOM once I have completed my course(s)?
No, we do not. You will be able to download your certificate of completion on your My Account page and it is your responsibility to file the appropriate paperwork with the regulatory agencies.
May I return a Distance Learning course?
Yes, you may return a Distance Learning Course if you decide NOT to complete the course and NOT to take the quiz. On any Distance Learning Course that you order in CD/Notebook format, you may open the notebook to look through the materials and evaluate whether the course is right for you. However, we do not accept any returns if the shrink wrap on the audio portion is broken or if the quiz has been taken Returns and exchanges are accepted within 30 days of purchase only and may be subject to a 15% restocking fee. Please call for return authorization and include a copy of the original invoice in the returned package.
We do not accept returns for Online formatted Distance Learning Courses. They may only be exchanged for other courses if you decide NOT to complete the course and NOT to take the quiz within 30 days of the original purchase date. Please call for exchange authorization.
What do I do if I lose my certificate?
