The Cook's Corner of the Blue Poppy website is dedicated to helping practitioners and their patients learn the joys and health benefits of cooking their own meals. While not all the meals found below could be considered "health food" in the traditional sense, we believe that it is just as important, if not more important, to nourish the soul. As one old herbalist said, "I'd rather eat processed food cooked with love, than organic food cooked with hate."
Our purpose is to inspire our readers to experiment as well as to enjoy. We believe that it's more important to cook fresh, local, seasonal and, if possible, organic foods than to fuss about dietary constraints. Above all, we hope that the recipes below will provide you with ample opportunity to cook food for your loved ones, to sit down at the table with people you adore and linger for hours over one of these recipes and a good bottle of wine. Such things are not just good for the body and the soul – they make life worth living.
What follows constitutes an online cookbook, organized and created by Malia Kirby, L.Ac. Malia’s love of food and cooking has helped her to successfully treat numerous patients with problems ranging from eating disorders and psychiatric conditions to helping people to lose weight, by counseling them to begin the lifelong journey of cooking. (Read more about Malia's culinary escapades here) Cook’s Corner also features recipes from other Blue Poppy authors and luminaries such as Honora Lee Wolfe (best veggie burgers you ever ate!).
This site will be updated and added to often, so be sure to stop by regularly. A Cook’s Corner recipe will be featured in most issues of the Blue Poppy weekly.
